Medical Imaging Education : The PixiLearn Pedagogical Approach
Why Choose PixiLearn for Your Medical Imaging Education ?
A Pedagogy Focused on Practice and Interactivity
PixiLearn was born from a key observation: we noted a difference between initial and continuing education.
Globally, initial education follows an experience-guided approach, much like a trainee doctor or hospital resident learning their future profession in a radiology department alongside experienced physicians, participating in the department’s daily activities.
This experience-based learning model is recognised as an effective method in medical teaching (source: ANEMF, HAS).
Interns in initial training learn on an imaging workstation, working on real clinical cases, performing their interpretations, and comparing their analysis with that of more experienced physicians.
This is learning through experience in a routine work situation, stimulating learning through error and incremental learning.
In continuing education, training is predominantly delivered through theoretical presentations in a conference room. The content is static, and imaging is summarised through selected key images extracted from the imaging examination.
Initial Education
Continuing Education
These continuing education formats do not follow the same learning model as initial education. The analytical effort and direct confrontation with the lecturer are often absent, making the session passive. Participants cannot identify their shortcomings to improve their practice.
At PixiLearn, we believe we must eliminate this difference. Continuing education should follow the same teaching model that has successfully trained generations of medical imaging specialists.
We have, therefore, reintroduced case-based learning for medical imaging education, featuring a real viewer and complete, authentic clinical cases for experience-driven learning.
Recognised Experts Dedicated to Your Learning
Beyond software tools, our programmes are primarily driven by the expertise of our lecturers.
We recruit our educators from around the world based on their clinical reputation and teaching abilities. Our educators adhere to our vision of practical, experience-guided teaching, thereby creating a distinctive pedagogical signature for our programmes.
We support our educators to ensure they can impart their knowledge with unprecedented teaching effectiveness.
With PixiLearn, you’ll have the opportunity to benefit from an accessible mentor who is actively involved in your learning. Attentive to your needs, they will guide you in acquiring the knowledge and expertise necessary for your clinical practice.
A State-of-the-Art Platform and Tools
PixiLearn is built on technologies combining the best of online teaching expertise, based on the most recognised educational platforms, with the best of medical imaging visualisation.
PixiLearn has successfully created an imaging viewer that is as comprehensive as a professional workstation, yet capable of running in a simple browser on any computer.

Our Pedagogical Approach : Total Immersion in Medical Imaging
Case-Based Learning : Immersion and Real-Life Scenarios
The interactive clinical cases are designed to be integrated into a comprehensive programme with pathways and progression defined by the lecturer. Cases are presented with a clinical context, just as in routine clinical practice. Participants are invited to explore the clinical case and build their diagnostic reasoning during a reflection period.
After this time, participants compare their analysis with that of the lecturer. Participants’ opinions are gathered through interactive polls, and the case is discussed during the virtual classroom session. For asynchronous learning, participants can view areas of interest prepared by the lecturer, highlighting essential imaging findings. A messaging and forum system allows participants to contact their educators.
These teaching methods provide ample opportunity for learning through experience and error. The act of formulating a judgment and making a medical decision on a clinical case, then confronting it with an expert, helps identify strengths and weaknesses and enriches clinical experience. This approach enables practical education, facilitating knowledge dissemination and enhancing medical expertise.
Interactive Virtual Classrooms : Real-Time Exchanges and Knowledge Sharing
Virtual classrooms are synchronous teaching modes where lecturers and participants are present simultaneously. These sessions can be conducted in an in-person, remote, or hybrid format. These programmes ensure the greatest interactivity and allow you to learn alongside expert mentors who are directly accessible for exchanges and sharing of experience.

Simulations : Practice and Skill Development
Clinical cases are the DNA of PixiLearn, and our training courses include a large proportion of learning by doing, enabling students to question their own skills and identify and fill any gaps in their knowledge.
The PixiLearn teaching scenario is divided into 3 stages: Immersive interactive clinical cases, at the start of the course, of intermediate difficulty, enabling students to question their knowledge and challenge their skills against the lecturer’s expertise in interactive sessions based around medical imaging. The aim of this first stage of training is to benefit from learning by doing.
A virtual classroom session linked to a course on the state of the art in science helps to identify the knowledge required to master the expertise being taught. This session also leaves plenty of room for sharing professional practices
Clinical cases of intermediate to advanced difficulty are used to consolidate and deepen the knowledge acquired. This 3rd stage consolidates the knowledge acquired through training.
This 3 step allows for the consolidation of acquired knowledge through practice.
Continuous Assessment : Personalised Monitoring and Measurable Progress
Our programmes include knowledge assessments. At the beginning of the programme, a series of questions helps to gauge participants’ existing knowledge. The lecturer can thus identify the audience’s strengths and weaknesses to pinpoint areas to reinforce during the programme. At the end, a new series of MCQs measures learner progress. The lecturer can also integrate intermediate assessments and pedagogical reinforcement strategies if gaps are identified. All these tools allow lecturers to track learning outcomes and adapt their teaching to the learners’ needs.
The Advantages of Our Medical Imaging Programmes
Flexibility and Accessibility : Learn Wherever, Whenever You Want
PixiLearn is accessible to all imaging professionals, the only requirements being an internet connection and a computer.
Two teaching modes are available:
Synchronous teaching with the lecturer and participants present at the same time, so you will be invited to connect according to the training schedule and follow the training from wherever you want.
Asynchronous online teaching, which allows great flexibility in the organisation of the participant’s time. In this mode, educational content and clinical cases are available at any time, 24/7, at the learner’s discretion.
Whatever the training mode, they benefit from Pixi Learn’s many teaching tools, educational content in various formats (text, PDF, video, etc.), progressive paths and, of course, interactive clinical cases on our imaging viewer.
Community and Network : Connect with Your Peers
PixiLearn includes numerous communication features via conferencing tools and dedicated discussion forums for each programme.
This allows you to interact freely with lecturers and other learners.
PixiLearn facilitates exchanges about professional practice and within your professional community to maintain the highest level of competence among medical imaging professionals.
Our Medical Imaging Programmes : A Wide Range of Choices
Medical Imaging Education
PixiLearn focuses on medical imaging in its broadest sense. Obviously, radiology and nuclear medicine are our core business, but medical imaging is not limited to these two specialties alone. We also pay attention to radiotherapy and anatomopathology, which share the same issues of expertise and education.
Programmes in medical specialties highly dependent on imaging, such as Neurology or Pulmonology, can also benefit from medical imaging clinical cases for clinical practitioners. We are specialists in medical images, regardless of type, radiological or microscopic, whether for imagers or clinicians.
